Talk Title: HealthMeasures Update on Translation Around the World
Helena Correia is the Director of Translations for NUCORE HealthMeasures, in the Department of Medical Social Sciences, at Northwestern University. She oversees the international coordination of multilingual translation activity, quality assurance and cross-cultural harmonization activities for three measurement systems: PROMIS®, Neuro-QoL, and NIH Toolbox® Emotion. Helena has been involved in PRO translation for over 20 years and has served as senior advisor on translation and cross-cultural adaptation matters, reviewing research protocols, conducting translatability assessments, and guiding researchers around the world through the resolution of translation and cultural adaptation issues. Her goal continues to be Helena earned a Licenciatura in International Relations from Universidade do Minho, Portugal. She has co-authored multiple articles on translation and linguistic validation and has conducted presentations and workshops on PRO translation methodology at conferences in Europe, North America and Africa. Helena is co-representative of the US PROMIS National Center and a member of the PROMIS International Committee.
